I was at a party recently and was approached by a young guy who wanted to know if I had any suggestions on where he could get a really good deal on a car audio system.

Like a lot of young guys, he wanted to upgrade his system and yank-out the factory stereo that came with his Honda Civic.
I asked him if he was looking at a factory upgrade or brand new system by selecting his own components.
Not surprisingly, he wasn't going anywhere near a factory car audio system and was going to start from scratch. I told him that was a smart move because not only were most factory audio systems underpowered, but ridiculously expensive. In fact, most people that install a factory car stereo overpay by almost 58%....on an inferior product.
I also made sure he wasn't thinking about shopping at the big retailers, or even the specialty audio retailers - he'd have the same problem there. He'd be looking at overpaying by almost 30% and he'd get no help with the installation.
The biggest concern most folks have with upgrading their car stereo systems is removing the existing system and installing the new one.
I made two suggestion. One, with the plug-and-play systems available today, it's relatively easy to install a new system. The biggest issue is removing the existing faceplates, surrounding dash area's and door panels.
He admitted that was a concern so I told him to give this a try if he didn't want to tackle that. It's a professional way to get a car audio system installed.
And secondly, he could spend a few minutes online at some of the top car audio distributors where he could find what he wanted, save some money and get installation help if he wanted to try it himself.
I gave him three names to check out -
Circuit City Car Audio - which has a huge selection to meet almost any need, custom installation kits, In-Store Pickup with the 24/24 Guarantee (your order is ready in 24 minutes or you get a $24 Gift Card) and Free Shipping if you decide to go that route.
Audio Parts Express Car Audio - Audiophile heaven with installation kits, buying guides (make sure you check them out), tech guides, huge selections and even a build-your-own speaker area. They have anything you need listed on the right side of the page.
And eBay Car Audio & Stereo - they're fast becoming a large Online Clearinghouse for car audio and stereo systems. It's where manufacturers and wholesalers go to move excess inventory....and where you can sometimes find exceptional deals.
If you're new to eBay Discount Car Audio & Stereo, or haven't visited them in a while, you'll need to register first. So, take a minute to register here - it's fast and it's free
.
Then just poke around eBay to get a feel for it. It really is like a Garage Sale, so take your time....and remember to use the "Search Functions" on the left side of the page. It makes finding things so much easier.
So, how did that young man do by shopping at these online distributors? He ended up saving almost $111 dollars. Not a bad return for spending a few minutes online. I hope you have the same results.
I do have an obligation to point out that not all Car Makers, Dealers, Salespeople, Insurance Companies and Banks are greedy or crooked. This site is dedicated to honest Companies and their Professional Employees who've grown weary of the ignorant and classless giving the automotive related industry a black eye......a black eye that I feel is very close to being permanent.
By using these new and used car guides, I hope to be able to help you find the Best Businesses, and the Professionals that represent them, with very little effort on your part and help you....
Save More Money and More Time Than You Ever Have Before.
It is also my hope that these Companies and the Professionals that represent them will have more business than they can handle - a reward they justly deserve.
