When you're looking for cars for sale, you can find yourself wallowing in the overwhelming number of web sites and other options vying for your eyeballs.
The problem is.....there are more than 20,000 "legitimate" options to use - and more than 40 million others claim to help finding cars for sale.
One of the advantages of being in the business for so long is....
I know what options work - and which ones don't.
I know which websites are easy to use.
I know which sites have a significant market share with a large database of cars for sale.
And I know which sites will do nothing but waste your time if you're searching for cars for sale. So let's take a look at who to visit....and who to avoid.
Generally, I'd suggest avoiding Manufacturer Web Sites. These sites are there for two reasons. One - provide information about their products. And two - funnel business to their franchised dealers.
For specific details about a particular car, truck, van or suv, they're a fantastic tool - make sure you take advantage of it.
They're not, however, a reliable source on finding what cars or trucks are for sale. Typically, they'll just pass you along to a dealership where you get to experience the typical "sales dance" so common in the car business.
And since the Car Makers site is only representing one brand, your time is much better off spent visiting an "Aggregated Site" which allows you to peruse multiple brands and multiple dealers - all at one time.
In the late 1990's, automotive franchises began to be aggregated by both Internet start-ups and large, existing web sites and media companies. These companies began to approach the Dealers with an offer of using the Internet as an additional sales channel.
The Result? Today, there are a handful of sites where you can find any car, truck, van or suv your heart desires, arrange to view and test-drive it, make and offer on it, or even send your request out for bid.
Here's a list of the top 3 Aggregators that list and detail cars for sale:
Internet Brands, Inc. dba carsdirect.com: Cars & Trucks For Sale
Classified Ventures, LLC dba cars.com: Cars & Trucks For Sale (use their "build a car" service)
Edmunds.com: Cars & Trucks For Sale
Classified sites can be a good choice - if you're careful about which ones you visit.
One of my favorites is Craigs List. If you live near a major metropolitan area, click on the City of your choice, then go to "for sale" located on the middle of the page, then click on "cars/trucks".
It's one the largest (and free) classified sites in the U.S. and you might just be able to find a car or truck for sale that meets your needs.
I do have an obligation to point out that not all Car Makers, Dealers, Salespeople, Insurance Companies and Banks are greedy or crooked. This site is dedicated to honest Companies and their Professional Employees who've grown weary of the ignorant and classless giving the automotive related industry a black eye......a black eye that I feel is very close to being permanent.
By using these new and used car guides, I hope to be able to help you find the Best Businesses, and the Professionals that represent them, with very little effort on your part and help you....
Save More Money and More Time Than You Ever Have Before.
It is also my hope that these Companies and the Professionals that represent them will have more business than they can handle - a reward they justly deserve.
