Q: Are the Car Floor Mats that you purchase in Stores or Online as good as what you can purchase from Toyota, Dodge, GM, Ford, Honda or any of the other Manufacturers?
A: Absolutely - it's a little known secret that almost all of the Car Makers...don't make any of the Floor Mats they sell. The floor mats are made by other companies. So what you buy online are exactly the same - they're just in a different box!

About 4 years ago, I got a call from my Mom while I was at work. She was looking at buying a Toyota and was complaining that the Car Floor Mats she wanted from the Dealer were ridiculously expensive.
She wanted to know if I had any idea where she could get custom fit floor mats for a good price.
Not a problem, I said. So, as a good son should, I passed along a bit of advice....and it went like this.
I told her whether you're shopping for floor mats for a car or truck you're already driving, or one you're going to buy....do not shop for car and truck floor mats at Car and Truck Dealerships.
Why's that, she asked? First of all, I said, Dealerships typically set their floor mat prices with an average profit of 82% built into the price. I asked her if an 82% profit sounded fair to her. Of course not, she said.
And secondly, I said, there isn't a single car, truck, van or suv manufacturer that makes their own Floor Mats anymore. They contract some other company to make them and then have their logo stitched on it.
That means the exact same oem floor mats are available elsewhere. The only difference is, many times they'll be no Logo because of trademark issues. I asked her if the Toyota logo was that important to her - it wasn't.
So I told Mom to skip the Dealerships - you should do the same.
Then I said that many folks shop at the Big Retailers like Wal Mart, Kmart & Napa Auto Parts. She explained that she'd been to all three. I told her that they weren't a bad choice when shopping for car floor mats.
And yes, she'd save about 30% by shopping there instead of at a Dealership. But I had a few problems with shopping at the Big Retailers. Such as -
One - the selection can many times be weak;
Two - finding someone to help can be a chore (we've all been there, right?);
And Three - finding an exact match to fit your car or truck can be frustrating. After all, who wants to use a pair of scissors on new floor mats.
So I told her that left only one option - Shopping Online.
I told my Mom, the last time I looked, there were more than 3 Million web sites selling floor mats for cars, vans, trucks and suvs. Most are nothing more than electronic storefronts that are poorly designed and frustrating to shop at.
The fact is, I said, only the Largest Online Distributors can beat a Wal Mart, Kmart or NAPA on price....and offer the exact same floor mats the Dealer has for your car, van, truck or suv.
The biggest online distributors typically sell floor mats for 30% less than what the Big Retailers sell for....and 58% less than a Dealership.
And most will ship your floor mats for Free and don't Charge Sales Tax - which saves you even more money.
So, I told Mom to sit down in front of her PC and start banging away on her keyboard. You should do the same. Just below, are the names of the Top 4 Online Distributors I gave to my Mom - and yes, one of them is where she purchased her floor mats from.
If you are a Porsche, BMW, or other European or Japanese Luxury Car owner, make sure to check out Drive Werks just below. They offer Lloyd Car Floor Mats - the sole supplier to BMW and Porsche.
And make sure you see the special P.S. farther down this page. It's a fantastic tip for those shopping for car, truck & suv floor mats....and 99.9% of all shoppers never even think of it. Make sure you check it out.
P.S. Do you have a couple of extra minutes? Then try shopping at eBay Motors for car floor mats
and Amazon
- they're both fast becoming the largest Online Clearinghouse's for Truck, Van and SUV Floor Mats in the U.S. It's where Floor Mats manufacturers and wholesalers go to move excess inventory....and where you can sometimes find exceptional deals.
If you're new to eBay Motors, you'll need to register first. So, take a minute to register here - it's fast and it's free
. Then just poke around eBay to get a feel for it. It really is like a Garage Sale so take your time....and remember to use the "Search Functions" on the left side of the page. It makes finding things so much easier.
