Many Internet Service Providers, like AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Hotmail and Earthlink and many Business E-mail Servers are using filtering systems to try and keep SPAM (Junk E-Mail) out of their customers' inboxes. Sounds like a great idea. After all, nobody likes SPAM e-mail.
The problem is....the filtering systems are so darn good, they block out the good stuff too.
Here's the problem - Each of the car dealers that are going to respond to your price request will have the words "price", "selling", "sale" and other similar words in the body of their e-mail.
Those large Internet Service Providers see those words and "JUNK" the e-mail. They stick the new car pricing e-mails, that you requested right into "Junk" or "SPAM" folders.
To make sure that these Pricing e-mails are not filtered into your "junk", "spam" or "bulk" folder, please add them to your list of trusted senders. This process is called Whitelisting.
Here's how to do it.
Hotmail and MSN: You need to look for their e-mail in your inbox – if it's there, click on “Put It In Folder” if you have the newer versions of MSN/Hotmail, or click on the options link next to the main menu tabs in older versions of MSN/Hotmail. If you do not see e-mails for the dealers, look in your Junk E-Mail folder, then add it to your "Put In Folder". If you have an older version, put the e-mail address in your safe list. That list can be accessed via the "Options" link next to the main menu tabs.
AOL: You need to look for Dealer Names in the From Area in your inbox – Just place their e-mail address to your address book. If it did not show up in our inbox, this is what you do. If you have the new AOL 9.0, just look in the Spamfolder. It will be in there. Go ahead and place their e-mail address in your address book. If you have older versions of AOL, type in keyword “junkmail” in the task bar. Their e-mails will be there. Just place the-mail address in your address book.
Yahoo! Mail: Again, if the e-mails are in your inbox, just add them to your address book. If it did not show up in our inbox, this is what you do. On Yahoo, depending on how old your version is, look for a “bulk” folder or “junk” folder – open it up and see if Pricing e-mails are there. If it is, open the message and click on the "this is not Spam" link next to the "From" field.
Earthlink: If the Dealers e-mails is colored yellow or tan, Earthlink thinks it’s spam or junk mail. Just click on Not Junk at the top of the e-mail.
Other providers: If Dealer e-mails are not in your inbox, look on the page for “Filtered Mail”, "Junk Mail", or "Spam Folders". If you find an e-mail you want in those folders, try adding those e-mail address to your address book or contact list. If this option is not available, try moving the message to your 'inbox' or forwarding the message to yourself.
So, make sure you take 30 seconds and "Whitelist" the Car Dealers e-mail addresses. If not, all your hard work will be wasted....you'll never even see a single price quote.
